Virtual Office Hours

The Graduate Journal of Food Studies (GJFS) first hosted a series of virtual office hours leading up to the 2021 Just Food conference. Designed for folks to ‘think out loud’ and receive peer feedback on in-progress abstracts, they were especially helpful for graduate students and early-career researchers who were thinking about submitting abstracts for papers, lightning talks, or creative works. These inaugural sessions were held by Alanna K. Higgins, Cormac Cleary, Jess Fagin, and Maya Hey. We acknowledge and thank them for their work.

GAFS has since expanded this initiative to offer advice for a host of topics, from the graduate school application cycle to conference preparation. We invite folks to “stop by” regardless of discipline, career stage, or degree of preparedness. Just come with questions! These office hours are designed to be open-ended enough to adapt to the needs of whoever “drops in.”
