2017 Conference Logistics

Flights

We encourage conference participants to arrive on Thursday afternoon and depart in the afternoon/evening on Saturday. Here are some very helpful directions to campus whether arriving by plane, train, or automobile. Flights should be into St. Louis Lambert Airport. There is a convenient and inexpensive metro system that takes about 30-40 minutes from the airport, and drops off a short walk from campus and nearby hotels.

Lodging

There are a number of reasonably priced hotels within (longish) walking distance, a short metro ride, or a short ride-share/taxi ride from the conference. Airbnb also has some very reasonable rates right near campus. Below are a few recommendations, in rough order of expense.

Food

A variety of meals are included in your registration. Catered breakfast will be available on both Friday and Saturday. Friday will have a delicious catered lunch and afternoon coffee and snack options. There will also be a Friday evening social at a local eatery/bar with an assortment of fine fare. As can be anticipated at a food conference, we’ll do our best to make sure everyone eats well.

Presentations

Presenters should prepare to present for 12-15 minutes. Feel free to present from memory, note cards, or with a prepared text (roughly a 7-page, double-spaced paper). PowerPoints are recommended, particularly those with nice images and limited text, but are entirely optional. There will be 15 minutes at the end of the formal presentations for questions and discussion. The presentation schedule is available here. Instructions have been distributed regarding how to submit your PowerPoint slides  by October 16 to the conference committee.
